NOT EARWAX!!! He scraped with his fingernail at a deep fold near the canal. Notice how his hand went up before the scraping as if he was making sure something was there or getting ready to be covert. Going after earwax is more random and stoic - he was purposeful. I suspect something was hidden there for later consumption.
